New Wine of the Week: Do Zoe 2014
Wine of the Week!!!!
2014 Do Zoe Albarino
Rias Baixas, Spain……$15.99
Yellow straw colour with green hints. Intense aromas of fruits (pear, apple, lemon), as well as aromatic herbs and white flowers. Very intense in the mouth, with notes of fruits and flowers. Elegant and persistent. This Rias Baixas wine ages very well in the months following its bottling, and is perfect as a stand-alone drink, or with appetizers and all types of fish and seafood.
Other Notable Wine Recommendations:
2014 Corte alla Flora Podere Del Giuggiolo Bianco
A fresh and fruity white blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Notes of lemongrass and grapefruit provide great aromatic balance, and the palate is crisp and thirst-quenching. Delightful with chilled shellfish-shrimp cocktail, perhaps.
2014 Aguijon De Abeja Malbec
Concentrated wine with good structure. Dark red color. Spice with aromas of black pepper and aguaribay tree, combined with ripe fruits and blackberries. In the mouth, velvety with persistent tannins perfectly balanced with a hint of acidity.
2013 Rupert & Rothschild Classique
Western Cape, South Africa…….$22.99
So elegant with great finesse and length. France comes to South Africa and picks up some muscle yet keeps its balletic grace. This could be served at a dinner party or given as a gift. Finishes with dried herbs and tobacco leaves. Savoury, meaty, racy.
